Runners

The American Odyssey Relay Run Adventure is best suited for teams of 12 runners. Each runner runs 3 legs of the 36 segment course. But teams with fewer than 12 runners may participate. They'll just need to run more miles. In any event, the number on the team must be able to be divided into 36 without any remainder! For those of you not conversant in arithmetic, that's 12, 9,6,4 or 3. Eighteen works too from a mathematical point of view, but it's not too good logistically.

If you are an individual seeking a team or you have fewer than 12 runners on your team, please contact us and we will try to match you with other runners to form a full team. If you can get together 6 runners, it is easier to match you with another 6.

Each team signs up in one of the following divisions and categories:

Divisions:

• Open - All runners must be 18 or older
• Masters - All runners must be 40 or older
• Corporate - All runners must be employed by the same company

Categories:

• Men - Zero to five women
• Mixed - Six to eleven women
• Women - 12 women

Prizes are awarded to the top team in each division and category. To be eligible for division winning prizes, runners must stay in order, e.g. the runner who runs leg no. 1 must also run legs 13 and 25.

Because this is a relay race, the idea of which is to have fun, prizes will also be awarded to the teams with the "best" team name, "best" costumes, and "best" decorated vans. We pick the "best" and, trust me, our decision is final!
