This is only my second relay (1st Odyssey event) so I am a relative newcomer. I loved every minute of it! I though it was very organized, very scenic and overall very well run. Thanks to all who were involved in organizing this fantastic event.
I ran legs 11, 23 and 35. The legs were challenging, but not too bad. Leg 11 started through town. Everytime I had to cross a major intersection a police officer or race official stopped traffic and allowed my safe crossing. Although it was a scenic run, I was quite sick of looking at the tower on top of the mountain starring down at me. And the last 1.7 mile straightaway seemed a little longer than that to me. Leg 23 was awesome! Antietam at 3am, does it get any better? Short, steep, rolling hills and a lot of motivation to run fast. My only suggestion would be to have the night leg signs lit up better (with reflective tap since most runners have head lamps.) Leg 35, seemed like it would take forever to start since it was the 2nd to last leg of the event. The canal was busy with locals and the cobble surface made for a tough run, but it was a nice 7 mile stretch.
Who was the "pink shorts" boys? And like the last relay we ran in, we got "nutted"...compliments of Mixed Nuts. Thanks to all who were involved in this event!!

Hi there -
We are in dire need of a last minute runner for our team. We're a mixed team of 6 women and now, 5 men all in our late 20's & early 30's. We're all newbies to this relay but are all excited and are having a lot of fun getting ready for the relay. We just need one person, male or female, to fill spot #9 (18 miles). We're not looking for anyone to break any land speed records. We just want a 12th person to have fun with us, meet totally new people (we're mostly strangers, minus a few happy hours and some newly spawned romances due to the relay) and run 200 miles or so. If you're interested, please let me know and I'll get back to you right away. We have everything planned and ready to go, you just need your running shoes, a signed waiver and maybe some extra deodorant. Oh yeah, we have 2 vans headed up; One on Thursday evening after work and one Friday morning before the race start. -- Josh |

I need to stage my car at the Bavarian Inn (or somewhere else near Shepherdstown) on Thursday, and am looking for a ride to Gettysburg. Please let me know if I can grab a ride with anyone. Thanks, Matt

Hello fellow relayers,
If any team from the DC area is sending a captain to Gettysburg Thursday evening to make the meeting, I would be very grateful for a ride. Could meet around the city or at a metro station. Thanks! Kevin |

We're looking for 2-3 runners of any speed to join our team. We've done a bunch of relays in the past, but never this one, so (hopefully) we'll be pretty well organized. Our runners will be in the 7:30 to 10:00 minute per mile range.

One of our runners is complaining about an injury so we are in need of a masters male or female. We currently have 6 men/6 women. We can have more women than men to remain a mixed team so either way. We are driving up from North Carolina on Thursday. Let me know ASAP so I can sleep at night.
reply here or email me at angela.linville@wachovia.com or angi@triad.rr.com Thanks!!!!!! |

Hey Last Minute Man....did you find a team? We are a mixed masters team and one of our teammates is doing a LOT of whining
about his achilles. We are looking for a masters male to replace him. Let me know if you're interested. We'll be driving up from North Carolina, so we can meet you in Gettysburg. Let me know! |
