So, what does it cost? It's pretty simple to figure that out too.
The regular, everyday registration fee is $1140 for a team.
Also, there is the issue of volunteers. Volunteers are one of the things that make a good race great so we need them big time! So, here's the deal. If three or more of your team members live within 50 miles of any point of the race course, you are required to supply at least three volunteers. Trust us, they will have a blast and will want to return year after year. So, why is this under the dollars and sense section? Because, if you don't intend to supply at least three volunteers as required, your registration fee must include an additional $75 so we can hire three "volunteers" to fill the void. Oh, yeah, one other thing. We will chastise you mercilessly at registration if you don't bring volunteers!
So, here's the recap:
- Regular registration--$1140
- Early registration-unbelievably cool, collector's item, inaugural American Odyssey Relay long sleeve t-shirt only available to early birds (by July 31, 2008)
- Failure to supply three volunteers (local teams only)--$75
Okay, so far we've never had to cancel the American Odyssey Relay (yes, I know it's the first year!), but it could happen. If a significant event occurs on race weekend and state or local officials determine that it is unsafe for us to hold the relay, we will have no choice but to cancel it. Notification of cancellation will occur through e-mails to all team captains and through updates to the American Odyssey Relay website.
Based on the complexity of executing this event, the need for planned public service support, permit arrangements, etc., it would simply not be possible to plan a "rain date". In addition, a significant percentage of the expenses are assumed in the months ahead of race weekend. As a result, we are not in the position to offer a refund.
